Unmapped certification, explained: how we guarantee a display is authentic and sealed

The problem certification solves

On the secondary market, nothing proves that a "sealed" display hasn't already been opened and closed back up. A broken seal glued back down, plastic film reproduced identically: to the naked eye, the difference isn't always visible. The buyer has to take the seller's word for it, with no way to check.

What Unmapped does differently

• The case is opened and filmed in full, once the room is full, never before, never behind the scenes.
• Every display gets a numbered, tamper-evident certification sticker when it's packaged.
• The certification number links to a public page, viewable by anyone, even before purchase for products sold in the shop.
• The opening video link and the tracking number are sent by email when the order ships.

The point isn't to ask you to take our word for it, it's to give you something to verify yourself: the video shows the case actually being opened, and the sticker guarantees the display hasn't been touched since.

The blockchain timestamp

Every certification is timestamped on the Bitcoin blockchain. In practice, that means we can't backdate or alter after the fact the proof that a given display came from a given opening, at a given moment: the timestamp can be verified independently of us.

If something's wrong on arrival

The certification sticker makes it possible to trace exactly where a package came from: which room, which draw it corresponds to. If there's an issue with delivery, that traceability is the basis for handling your request: the exact terms are detailed in our terms of sale.
